Wine Estate Guest House Cape Town

Location

Only a leisurely hour and a half from Cape Town along the world's longest wine route and nestled amongst the vineyards of the Majors Hill Estate, our warm country hospitality will soothe the soul! And being mere minutes from the centre of Robertson, with its Jacaranda lined streets and cape architecture, vineyards and mountain backdrops, great wine and country hospitality at its best await.

History

The Louw family bought the farm Klipdrif in 1994. A previous owner, Major Jacobus Petrus Marais started the cultivation of grapes on this farm and built one of the first cellars in the Robertson valley. His Southern Liquor Company developed the now famous Klipdrif Brandy. He was buried in a favourite spot of his, a hill from where he used to look out over his farm. Major Marais was commemorated in the name Majors Hill Winery. Major’s Rest Guest House was built next to the old Majors favourite spot, on the hill overlooking some of the estate’s vineyards right up to the Breede River.
